How long will it take?

Most translators can translate around 12,000-15,000 characters with spaces or 2,000-2,500 words per day.
Proofreading is markedly faster than translation and if necessary can largely be done whilst the translation is being carried out.
A small amount of time is also needed for technical issues relating to translation software and more time may be needed for in-house translators to become available or to find suitable freelancers with capacity for your translation.
For style and consistency reasons, ideally you want a single translator and single proofreader for your translation whenever time considerations allow. However, this isn’t always possible – particularly for translations of over 15,000 characters/2,500 words – and multiple translators with a single proofreader, or for a very large project with a very tight deadline, multiple translators with multiple proofreaders, are also an option.
Does it matter if they use translation software (CAT tools)?
